Psalm 127 is one of the Songs of Ascent (or Degrees). They were tunes sung by Israelites as they were marching up to Jerusalem to celebrate one of the feasts of Israel. There are fifteen Psalms of Ascent, starting with Psalm 120 ends with Psalm 134. Psalm 127 is the exact middle of the section.
These ascension psalms were compiled in groups of three. The first psalm in each triad is about trouble, the second is about trust, and the third about triumph.
Psalm 127 is a psalm of trust.
